Villa Dagrum

Villa Dagrum

The villa - an overview

Dagrum sleeps up to 8 in 4 bedrooms. The villa is a fantastic family holiday home in the S’Albufera Parc Natural near Es Grau in the north-east of Menorca. Its hill top position is probably one of the finest locations on the island.

The house is not overlooked and the pool and terraces provide complete privacy and stunning views across the island. But it is not just the views! Dagrum is well equipped to ensure all the family have a great holiday. Outside is a good sized pool, if slightly strange in shape, which provides hours of fun for the kids and the terraces with sun loungers and parasols give sun lovers exactly what they want.

The house itself has bedrooms on the ground floor and living rooms upstairs to make the most of the views and the breeze. There is a large well equipped kitchen, separate vaulted ceiling dining room with seating for eight and a sitting room. The triple aspect sitting room opens out on one side to a covered terrace with a sofa that is a shaded bolt hole in the heat of the day.

To the west it gives access to a partially shaded eating area with views towards Monte Toro, the island’s highest point. Leading off this is another open terrace with sunbeds and a parasol with views to Es Grau and the sea. Stairs lead down to the swimming pool.

Downstairs the circular main bedroom has an ensuite shower room, with a wet-room type shower, basin and WC. The other three bedrooms, one double and two twins are comfortably furnished with plenty of built in storage. The second shower room also has a walk-in shower, basin and WC.

And it is all less than 10 mins from the sea at the very family friendly beach at Es Grau and 20 mins from the airport or the centre of Mahon.

The family showeroom is right next door. Like the main bathroom this has been modernised and with its walk-in shower provides all the facilities for the family.

Bedroom 3

A smaller room but stiil with a queen size double bed and plenty of storage. The room overlooks the swimming pool and catches the rising sun. The bedroom also adjoins the family bathroom.

Family bathroom

Between bedrooms 2 and 3 this modern bathroom features a large walk-in shower, basin and toilet.

Kitchen

A large double aspect modernspace equipped with everything you might need. A large fridge/freezer, a second under counter drinks fridge, gas hob, electric oven, full-size dishwasher, microwave, double sink, pots pans and everything else to make catering, for those who want to, as easy as possible.

Dining room

On the first floor, in the tower adjoining the kitchen, the dining room has stunning views over the island to the South, East and West. The table extends to seat eight.

Sitting room

Also on the first floor the triple aspect sitting room opens out to upper terraces from which stairs lead down to the pool area. Fabulous views to Es Grau and the sea to the north and then to the west and south. The room is a haven from the heat of the day or on chilly evenings.

Outside

Ont the 1st floor leading off the sitting room are three terraces with far reaching views to the North, West and South. The covered South terrace, which is on the front of the house, is the smaller and is generally a quiter and sheltered location. The West facing terrace is partially covered with a slatted wooden pergola and with its table and chairs is a wonderful location for breakfast lunch or dinner. It is the place to grab the full glory of the sun setting behind the island's highest spot, Monte Toro. The north terrace with views over to Es Grau and the sea is for the sunworshippers! Stairs lead down from here to the pool area.

The pool

The pool and surrounding terraces were all retiled and upgraded in the past few years to provide a fantastic setting. It is accesed either from the main ground floor hallway or from steps leading down from the upper terraces. For the sun worshipper, weather permitting, a tan can be perfected right through the day. There are plenty of sun loungers and chairs for all. A large sun shade and natural shading means that those not so much in need of “rays” can also be comfortable. The pool is the focus for the family and in depth it runs from about 1 metre to a bit over 2 metres. The two mosaic dolphins (dolfinos) were salvaged from the original pool as they were very much part of its original character. Throughout the summer the pool is cleaned and checked twice a week to ensure the water is in tip-top condition and as perfect as can be.
